The Primal Parenting Initiative is an educational movement founded by Angela Braden, under her brand, Primal Psychology – dedicated to restoring the natural intelligence that guides human development. Rooted in multi-disciplinary science, including attachment and neuroscience, the Primal Parenting podcast offers guidance on the biological blueprint that defines human beings as social mammals.
As detailed in Angela’s book, Primal Parenting: The Ancient Antidote to the Current Mental Health Crisis, the podcast features the Five Baselines of Primal Parenting. Based on a broad look at the most relevant and strongest research findings, Angela identified the following top five parenting practices human beings evolved with and need to develop optimally:
- Attunement/Attachment in ‘Companionship Care’ (a term coined by Angela’s mentor Dr. Darcia Narvaez.
- Positive, affectionate touch
- Breastfeeding/Nutrition/toxin avoidance
- Community support of the parent
- Play (a brain state)
Only after you learn to recognize how modern societal and medical structures influence your decisions can you fully access all five of your parenting gifts. This allows you to fully raise your child in alignment with your values and goals for them and to truly meet their developmental needs. The Primal Parenting Podcast will open your eyes and empower you to tap into that inner wisdom encoded in your DNA and to optimize human potential.
Each baseline is explored on the podcast with expert guests – where neuroscience, psychology, and ancestral wisdom converge to reveal what children truly need to thrive.
