What is a parent to do? Is the criterion set out there by the culture, conformity? Or, do we take our cues from the child and trust nature’s billion year old process? Can I take my cues about what the child need from the child rather than what I think the child needs to compete, meaning survive in a threatening culture? This implies a radical shift of values, expectations and the independence to act on internal rather than external demands. For a parent to free a child from culture’s conditioning they must first be free themselves.
