Our challenge is inner, not outer
to not identify with what Buddhists call ignorance
that fundamental misperception of our true nature
with its implicit evil brewing in ourselves, others, society
what we do to the earth and every living thing

Only then, free from ignorance
can we see clearly and do what must be done
without creating more of what we shun

Walking in that freedom
the beauty that always surrounds us
our true nature lights our way with spontaneous insight
guided by empathic-entangled empathy
a new action is revealed
unfolding like a delicate flower
in an ever-renewing garden of beauty
where it is impossible to lose our way ever again

may you and the people you love
glimpse a moment or two
that is free from ignorance
and never forget
